I recently finished Clo3D Patternmaking & Construction which was the second course of Clo3D Virtual Fashion Design program by Parsons School of Design. The 9-week course was taught by professor Floriana Betti Bindi and I have learned so much from it. Thank you professor Betti Bindi!

Week 1 Pattern Drafting

This week gave an intro to pattern drafting. I learned how to draft garments from scratch, or by tracing from images-from either a pattern or a photo. It’s really cool to see that we can even trace from a photo of a garment! And I made a pattern from a photo of my own summer shirt.

Here is how I create the pattern in Clo3D — first I created a blank fabric then I imported the photo onto it. After tracing with the Edit Texture tool from the 2D window, I cloned the trace as a pattern which I then I fit to the avatar.
